About hijama and cupping

What is hijama?

Hijama is the Arabic name for wet cupping. Cups placed on specific points create gentle suction, then small, shallow incisions let a small amount of blood collect in the cups. It is an ancient healing practice and a Prophetic Sunnah. About hijama (wet cupping)

What's the difference between hijama and dry cupping?

Hijama (wet cupping) adds small, shallow incisions so a little blood collects in the cups; dry cupping uses suction only, with no incisions. Both start the same way. Moving cupping is a third option, where the cups glide over the skin like a massage. About dry and moving cupping

What happens during a hijama session?

Your session starts with a short consultation, then your practitioner chooses your cupping points and cleans the skin. Cups are applied with gentle suction, small sterile incisions are made, the cups go back on, and the area is cleansed and treated with a natural antiseptic. The hijama process step by step

How long does a cupping session take?

Most sessions last 25 to 35 minutes, including your consultation, goal-setting and the treatment itself: General Detox, dry and moving cupping about 25 minutes, facial cupping 30 and Deep Detox 35. Hijama & Ruqyah takes about an hour. Every session is tailored to your needs, so timing varies a little.

Is cupping painful?

Cupping is generally not painful. Most people find it relaxing, and any discomfort from the suction usually fades quickly. The marks left behind typically disappear within days, depending on your skin and condition.

Before your session

How do I prepare for hijama?

Don't eat for 2 to 3 hours before your session, and take a shower before you come. Wear loose, comfortable clothing that can tolerate contact with the oil used during treatment. For dry or moving cupping, shower and avoid a heavy meal beforehand.

After your session

What should I do after hijama?

Drink plenty of water and eat a light meal soon after, avoiding high-protein foods. Don't shower, swim or use a sauna for 24 hours. Keep the cupping sites moisturized with black seed oil, and keep movement light for the first 2 to 3 hours.

How often should I have hijama?

It depends on your health goals. Some clients benefit from weekly or monthly sessions, others only need one every few months. During the first phase of a treatment plan, sessions can be more frequent. Your practitioner will help you choose a schedule.

The pelvic floor chair

Do I need to undress for the pelvic floor chair?

No. You stay fully clothed for the whole session and simply sit on the chair. There is no changing, no internal treatment and no probes. Once the chair is running, we step out and the room is yours.

Does the pelvic floor chair hurt?

It shouldn't. You will feel strong tingling and tightening, which is unusual but not painful. We set the intensity with you before stepping out, and you can call us back to change it at any time.

How many pelvic floor chair sessions will I need?

Programs run 6, 8 or 12 sessions, usually 2–3 times a week. Sessions are booked as a series because muscles respond to regular, repeated work. After your program, we recommend one maintenance session a month to keep the muscles working. We suggest a plan once we have reviewed your health form.

Can I use the pelvic floor chair after giving birth?

It may be suitable once your postnatal bleeding has ended and your doctor or midwife has cleared you. After a C-section, wait for your surgeon's clearance. If you're breastfeeding, tell us on your health form.

Can the pelvic floor chair help with marital intimacy?

The pelvic floor muscles play a part in comfort and sensation during intimacy, so some clients choose pelvic floor support for this reason. Experiences vary from person to person.

Is the pelvic floor chair FDA-approved?

No. The chair is offered as a wellness service, not a medical treatment, and it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition. Every client fills in a health form first so we can check it suits them.

Do you offer the pelvic floor chair for men?

Yes. Men are welcome at our Richardson studio. We start the chair and step out, so every client has the private room to themselves.

Do I need a doctor's referral for the pelvic floor chair?

No referral is needed to book. We may ask for your doctor's clearance if you are postpartum, have had recent surgery, or have a health condition.
